What Causes Chest Pain?

Chest pain can be caused by a variety of conditions, such as acid reflux, angina, cardiomyopathy, gallstones, or even anxiety/panic attacks. Severe chest pain can be a sign of a heart attack, which is why it is always important to seek medical attention for any unexplainable chest pain. If pain is unbearable or accompanied by other symptoms, call 911.

The onset of chest pain is often unexpected and can be intensely painful or may present as a dull, persistent ache. Regardless of the cause, it is a good idea to seek immediate medical attention.
