Diagnosing and Treating Allergies

Allergies occur when your immune system overreacts to a foreign substance, or allergen. Mild symptoms can include itchy eyes, nasal congestion, or sneezing. In more severe cases, symptoms may include chest tightness, wheezing, nausea, vomiting, rapid heart rate, low blood pressure, or swelling of the lips, tongue, or face.

Our team at UF Health treats a wide variety of allergies related to animals, chemicals, foods, insects, medications, and seasonal changes. Whether you’re dealing with a mild nuisance or a severe allergic reaction, we are here for you.

When to Visit the ER for Allergic Reactions

While some mild allergy symptoms may not require emergency care, our urgent care facilities are equipped to identify your allergy triggers and help you manage them effectively. If your allergy symptoms are severe, we urge you to visit your nearest ER immediately. In the case of anaphylaxis, call 911 right away.

Our emergency facilities are open around the clock to treat severe allergic reactions and other health concerns. We are committed to providing optimal healthcare services to the Eustis-Mount Dora community and surrounding areas.
